PURINA ONE REVIEW
Analysis
Purina One Dog Food does not receive a very high rating from us for a number of reasons. To begin with, the dry food contains many controversial ingredients. Although the first ingredient is chicken, the second ingredient is brewer’s rice. This is a particularly cheap cereal by-product that does not contain high levels of nutrients that dogs need. The third ingredient is poultry by-product meal, which could be anything from beaks to feet to ground up bones. Corn and gluten come next. These are generally considered filler materials, and do not supply any valuable nutrient’s to a dog’s diet. Finally, the addition of menadione is a definite negative. This form of vitamin K is believed to cause allergies and liver problems. All in all, not a very appealing mix. The Wholesome Entrees canned wet food receives a slightly higher rating for its use of quality meats like beef, lamb and chicken. Even so, the wet food still includes animal by-products and lacks sufficient minerals. Although this food is cheap, the low quality ingredients make it a less than stellar choice.

PURINO ONE DOG FOOD
Purina is a very well-known brand name among most dog owners. Each day, thousands of people across the country purchase Purina One dog food. The marketing for Purina One uses such phrases as “provide healthy changes that you can see” and “promote a lifetime of good health”. However, is Purina One dog food really a nutritious option for your dog’s health? Here is some information to help you to understand if Purina One is right for your dog.Who Makes Purina One?
The company who makes Purina One dog food is called Nestle Purina Pet Care Company. The company is the result of a merger between Nestle’s “Friskies PetCare Company” and the Ralston Purina Company, which took place in December of 2001. The headquarters of Nestle Purina PetCare are currently located in St. Louis, Missouri.Purina One Dog Food Recall
According to current information, Purina One dog food is not involved in any pet food recalls, and is not listed on the FDA’s pet food recall list. Always check the latest updates to make sure that your dog’s food has not been involved in a pet food recall.Purina One Ingredients
Most of the Purina One dog food formulas contain a protein source as their first ingredient (such as chicken, beef or salmon). However, some of the other ingredients contained in many Purina One dog food formulas include corn gluten meal, brewers rice, poultry by-products, salt, whole-grain corn, soybean meal and animal digest. Some of these ingredients, such as wheat, are often classified as “fillers”, and may contribute to a higher carbohydrate content than is suitable for a dog’s digestive system.Purina One Allergies
There are several ingredients contained in Purina One dog food formulas that could cause allergic reactions in some dogs. Since many dogs are allergic to corn, ingredients such as corn and corn gluten meal could induce an allergic reaction. Soy and wheat are two other allergens that are contained in many PurinaPlan dog food formulas. Since the protein sources in Purina One dog food aren’t very unique (chicken, beef, fish), they could cause allergic reactions in dogs that have protein-specific allergies.Purina One Recipes
